1) What These Terms Cover
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of our website, contact and booking forms, subscription plans, estimates, and any services we provide at your home or jobsite (collectively, the “Services”). By visiting our site, requesting an estimate, booking work, or purchasing a subscription, you agree to these Terms.
2) Who We Are
We are a Connecticut contractor offering remodeling, carpentry, handyman, and related home-improvement services. Carpentry & Handyman Concepts is fully licensed and insured in the state of Connecticut.
3) Quotes & Estimates
We typically provide free, no-obligation estimates based on the information available at the time. Unless otherwise stated, estimates are valid for 30 days from the date issued and may be adjusted due to material price changes or availability. Estimates assume normal site conditions. If unforeseen conditions such as rot, asbestos, structural defects, or hidden utilities are discovered, change orders and additional costs may be required. If permits or inspections are necessary, the client is responsible for all associated fees unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4) Scope, Change Orders & Extra Work
The written scope outlined in your proposal or contract governs the work we provide. Any additions or modifications must be approved in writing, which may include email approval, and may affect pricing and timelines. If hidden conditions are discovered, we will notify you promptly and pause work until you approve a change order.
5) Scheduling, Access & Site Requirements
We schedule projects in good faith and communicate start dates and timelines, but dates may shift due to weather, material lead times, supplier issues, or prior job delays. You agree to provide safe access to the work area, utilities, and parking, and to ensure that pets and valuables are secured. If hazardous materials such as asbestos or lead are encountered, work may pause until safe remediation is arranged.
6) Deposits, Progress Payments & Final Payment
Some projects may require a deposit to secure materials and scheduling. Progress invoices may be issued as work advances, and final payment is due upon substantial completion unless otherwise stated in your contract. Unpaid balances may incur late fees or interest permitted by Connecticut law, and returned checks or chargebacks may include administrative fees. We accept standard payment methods and, when offered, third-party financing such as Klarna.
7) Hourly Work
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, our hourly rate is $95 per hour plus the cost of materials and applicable taxes. Some tasks may carry a minimum service charge or trip fee. Materials may be billed at actual cost plus a reasonable handling or markup.
8) Subscription Plans (Monthly “Home Care” Packages)
If you enroll in a subscription, billing is monthly in advance to your chosen payment method. Packages include a set number of labor hours per month, as detailed on our website. Labor time is measured by on-site work; sourcing specialty materials or extended travel may be billed if specified in your plan. We make every effort to honor priority scheduling windows, but emergencies, weather, and prior commitments may affect availability. Unless stated in your agreement, unused hours do not roll over to the next month. Additional hours beyond your plan are billed at the current hourly rate, and any applicable discounts are listed in your subscription. You may cancel your subscription anytime after two months by notifying us before your next billing date, though no refunds are provided for partially used periods. We reserve the right to adjust plan features or pricing with 30 days’ notice.
9) Cancellations & Rescheduling (Non-Subscription Jobs)
If you need to reschedule or cancel a non-subscription job, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Short-notice cancellations may incur a fee to cover lost time or special-order materials. We may also reschedule work for reasons including weather, safety, supply issues, or staffing constraints, and will notify you as soon as possible.
10) Financing via Klarna
Klarna financing is offered as a separate agreement governed by Klarna’s terms, privacy policy, and credit decisions. We do not control approval decisions, payment schedules, or interest rates. If financing is declined, you are still responsible for paying through another method. We share only the information necessary to process your application, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11) Customer Responsibilities
As a customer, you agree to provide accurate information, timely decisions, and necessary approvals. You must ensure that the work area is cleared, accessible, and safe for our team. Children and pets should be kept away from work zones. If your property is governed by an HOA or landlord, it is your responsibility to secure approvals in advance.
12) Warranties & Disclaimers
Any workmanship warranty will be described in your written agreement. If no warranty is specified, services are provided “as is” to the fullest extent permitted by law. Manufacturer warranties on materials, if available, are passed directly to you. Normal wear and tear, misuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or alterations by others are not covered. Except as expressly stated in a signed agreement, we disclaim all implied warranties to the maximum extent allowed by law.
13) Photos, Testimonials & Marketing
We may photograph completed work for use in our portfolio or marketing unless you opt out in writing before the project is finished. By submitting a review or testimonial, you grant us permission to display it, using only your first name, initial, and town unless you request otherwise.
14) Intellectual Property (Website)
All content on our website, including text, photos, and logos, is the property of Carpentry & Handyman Concepts or our licensors. You may not copy, reproduce, or use this content without our written permission.
15) Limitations of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Our total liability related to the services provided will not exceed the amount you paid for the specific work giving rise to the claim. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.
16) Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that arise from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Services.
17) Force Majeure
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. These may include severe weather, supply chain disruptions, illness, labor shortages, or acts of God.
18) Disputes, Governing Law & Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Connecticut. You agree to attempt good-faith resolution with us before pursuing legal action. If disputes cannot be resolved, they may be brought in state or federal courts located in Connecticut, or, if both parties agree in writing, through binding arbitration. Small claims court remains available where permitted by law.
19) Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date will be updated upon posting. Continued use of our website or services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
